Letdown Much?

Well, the Oscars were a letdown, I thought. Jon Stewart wasn’t as funny as I hoped, and the winners I wanted (e.g., Felicity Huffman and any of the other 4 BP noms) came up empty.

Bummer.

(By the way, did you see Mel Gibson speaking “in Maya” in the intro? Apocalypto will be even worse than I thought!)

I actually thought Stewart was pretty good, better than I expected as I am not really a huge fan of his. Steve Martin remains my favorite of the recent hosts, though.

Brokeback losing Best Pic was rough. I think let down is a tremendous understatement there. My other biggest letdown was Amy Adams in the Supporting Actress category… “Junebug” is great, you should check it out.

I’ve been expecting Crash to win ever since the SAG Awards, personally. Not that I’m happy with it…

Thanks for the tip re: Junebug. I’ve had it on my radar lately but now I’ll move it up in the queue.

Junebug is a very quirky piece, but fun in a weird way. Amy Adams is definitely it’s shining star.

I agree that JS wasn’t that funny in the Oscars, I’m feeling a little ‘we need to not be too controversial’ vibe coming from it.

MY main pleasure at the Oscars was seeing my pick, Philip Seymour Hoffman, win best actor. He was flawless as Capote.

    Shame about Felicity.

I see that you’ve watched “Junebug” and seemed to have enjoyed it. I feel like I’ve made a difference!

Si: yeah, I hear PSH spent the whole time in character, even during breaks in shooting. He’s old school.

Justin Jason: yes, you have made a difference. 🙂 I thought it was a good movie, really sticks with you. We were all still talking about it the next day…

    Justin!? Justin!

Fuck! Sorry about that, man. I can read, I swear. Usually.
