Statement from the Management

Recent events have provoked a negative response in excess of our intent. An entry that was intended to be more amusing than cutting (and presented in the spirit of one friend deflating what he thought was an excessive display of ego on the part of another) was taken as entirely too harsh.

We maintain that it is entirely right and appropriate to comment publicly (by any method) on any thing, for any reason, so long as that thing was not shared in confidence. (Despite calling his globally-available site a "journal," it is clear from the entry in question that the author wished to "share" with readers.)

In literary criticism, anything well-supported in the text is valid analysis; that does not necessarily mean that it reflects upon the author personally. Those who take the time to name their sites as shrines to "bitchy comments" should know that, but it bears repeating.

Still, greater care will be taken in the selection of targets and the execution of the analysis in future.
